Welcome

St. Ambrose College is a Christian Brothers' Roman Catholic boys' grammar school with a selective intake, boys entering via an entrance examination. As a voluntary aided school, there are no fees.

The school was founded by the de la Salle Brothers in 1940, after evacuating Guernsey, and was taken over by the Irish Christian Brothers in 1946. It still retains as its core ethos the charisms of their founder, Blessed Edmund Ignatius Rice.

School inspectors call the College "an outstanding Catholic school", and each year for A level results the Sunday Times rates us as
"consistently one of the best Catholic day schools".
Ofsted Report & Publications

A level Results place the College in the top 2% of schools nationally.

St. Ambrose College has been designated a Pathfinder School and as such has been awarded a £22 million grant to completely rebuild the school. The new school will be located in our current grounds.
